FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO TO PRESIDE AT GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR 162 PARAMEDICS AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a graduation ceremony for 52 Paramedics and 109 Emergency Medical Technicians at the Christian Cultural Center, 120-20 Flatlands Avenue, Brooklyn on Friday, December 6th at 11 a.m.

“These new Emergency Medical Technicians will be responding to a range of medical emergencies, serving in communities throughout New York City, upholding the FDNY’s reputation of providing the best pre-hospital care in the world,” said Commissioner Cassano.  “As FDNY members these graduates will respond to life-threatening emergencies, making an immediate, positive impact on many New Yorkers’ lives.”

This class includes 13 new EMTs and Paramedics who have served their country in all branches of the United States Armed Services, and were deployed around the world from Iraq and Afghanistan, to rescue operations in Haiti and Japan following their devastating natural disasters. Among today’s graduates are also 5 graduates of the FDNY High School. Twelve different languages are spoken by this diverse group of graduates, including: American Sign Language, Arabic, Cantonese, Creole, Filipino, Greek, Hindi, Japanese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish, and Urdu.
