FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO TO PRESIDE AT CEREMONY PROMOTING 4 EMS DEPUTY CHIEFS AND GRADUATING 52 PARAMEDICS

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a graduation ceremony for 46 Paramedics at Fort Hamilton Army Base, Building 403 in Brooklyn on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. This new paramedic class includes 4 Captains who are being promoted to the rank of EMS Deputy Chief and 52 FDNY Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who are being promoted to the rank of Paramedic.

“The Department’s strength is in our members’ continuing to step up, lead others, take on new responsibilities, and increase their training and preparedness,” said Commissioner Cassano.  “These new Deputy Chiefs and Paramedics will build on that strength with their professionalism and commitment to providing the best pre-hospital care on each and every call.”

Several different languages are spoken by this diverse group of graduates, including: Spanish, Haitian-Creole and Russian. They will be assigned to various units throughout the city.
