Duracell Unveils New “Quantum Heroes” Video Series, Featuring FDNY Firefighters who Performed Rescues in Rockaway, Queens During Superstorm Sandy

FDNY Foundation Receives an Additional 85,000 Duracell Batteries and $50,000 to Support Fire Safety Education and Training for FDNY Members

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano, Country Music Star Tim McGraw, and Duracell Marketing Director Jeff Jarrett will announce a donation of Duracell’s new Quantum Batteries for use in the equipment of FDNY members on Thursday, August 15, 11 a.m. at the quarters of Engine 33/Ladder 9, 42 Great Jones Street, in Manhattan.  In addition, Duracell has pledged 85,000 additional batteries for smoke alarms and $50,000 to support Fire Safety Education.  The 85,000 batteries will be distributed by the FDNY Fire Safety Education Unit at fire safety events throughout the year.

“For many years, Duracell has been a strong supporter of the FDNY and the FDNY Foundation with generous donations of batteries which we have distributed throughout the city to power smoke and carbon monoxide alarms,” said Commissioner Cassano.  “With this latest donation – including their new Quantum battery –
Duracell is not only helping support fire safety, they’re helping to power the equipment our members use to save lives.”
