Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a ceremony promoting 60 FDNY members at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 31 in the auditorium at the FDNY Academy on Randall’s Island. Two Deputy Assistant Chiefs will be promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief, four Battalion Chiefs will be promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief, twelve Captains will be promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief, one Fire Marshal will be promoted to the rank of Supervising Fire Marshal, twenty-one Lieutenants will be promoted to the rank of Captain, and twenty Firefighters will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

Among those being promoted to Captain is Lieutenant Aldo Adissi from Squad 61 in the Bronx. He is currently deployed to Afghanistan with the Air National Guard. His family will accept his new badge on his behalf.

“Promotion ceremonies are proud days in the Department, which serve to remind us of the strong and dedicated leaders we possess,” said Commissioner Cassano. “By stepping up to lead and advancing their careers, each of these Fire Officers is carrying on the proud traditions of the FDNY; ensuring that we never waver in our service to the people of the City of New York.”

Together, the newly promoted members have nearly 1,000 years of experience with the Department. They will be assigned to various units throughout the city.
