FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO TO PRESIDE AT PROMOTION CEREMONY FOR 84 EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a promotion ceremony for 84 Emergency Medical Technicians at the FDNY Fire Academy on Randalls Island, on Tuesday, April 3, at 11 a.m.

"FDNY EMS offers a level of pre-hospital medical care, unmatched anywhere in the world" said Commissioner Cassano. "This new class of Emergency Medical Technicians will soon be out on the street every day helping all those who live and work in New York City; continuing the life-saving work and traditions of the New York City Fire Department."

Nine different languages are spoken in this diverse group, including Spanish, Russian, Hindi, Arabic and Albanian. Three members have served in the United States Armed Forces.

All of the newly promoted members will be assigned to various units throughout the city.

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano, Chief of Department Edward S. Kilduff, Chief of EMS Abdo Nahmod and many FDNY members and their families.
