FIREFIGHTER ROBERT WIEDMANN OF RESCUE COMPANY 2 TO BE RELEASED FROM NEW YORK-PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL/WEILL CORNELL MEDICAL CENTER

Firefighter Robert Wiedmann, 38, will be released from the Hearst Burn Center of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center at 525 East 68th Street on Friday March 23, 11 a.m. Firefighter Wiedmann will be joined by Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano, doctors from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and many of his fellow FDNY members and family.

Firefighter Wiedmann was critically injured while operating at a second-alarm fire at 1100 Prospect Place in Brooklyn on December 19, 2011. For the last three months, Firefighter Wiedmann has endured multiple operations as he continues his recovery from severe burns to more than half his body. Firefighter Wiedmann is a 14-year veteran of the Department, and is assigned to Rescue Company 2 in Brooklyn.

Firefighter James Gersbeck, 52, also of Rescue Company 2, was severely injured in the same fire. Firefighter Gersbeck was previously released from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center following treatment for his injuries.
