FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO TO PRESIDE AT CEREMONY FOR FDNY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES
Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano, Chief of Department Edward Kilduff, Principal James Anderson and other FDNY officials will preside over a graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 24th at the FDNY Academy on Randall's Island for students from the FDNY High School for Fire and Life Safety in Brooklyn.
The 58 graduating students are the school's fourth graduating class. The students have successfully completed a rigorous academic program that emphasizes leadership and strength as core values along with the academic and physical skills necessary for emergency responders. The school strives to introduce its students to future careers with the FDNY, either as firefighters, paramedics, or emergency medical technicians (EMTs).
Ninety percent of the graduates plan to attend college in the fall. Twenty graduates will participate in the FDNY EMS Academy Summer EMT Certification Class at Fort Totten, which is funded by the FDNY Foundation.
