FDNY RECEIVES $12,000 GRANT FOR ROOF OPERATIONS SIMULATOR AT FDNY TRAINING ACADEMY
Taylor & Taylor Associates and the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company have partnered to award a $12,663 grant to the FDNY on Thursday, June 16, 11 a.m. at the FDNY Training Academy on Randalls Island for construction of a Roof Operations Training Simulator.
The brand new Roof Operations Training Simulator consists of a 1-story building measuring 30-by-30 feet, with multiple cutting stations on the roof. At each station, firefighters will train using the roof saw to cut through panels that can be replaced after every training session. The roof simulator will provide firefighters with a chance to train at cutting through the different construction features associated with buildings located in all five boroughs.
“This generous grant is so important because it will benefit every current firefighter in the Department when they train on Randalls Island, as well as future generations of FDNY members who will come through this Academy,” said Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano.
Since December 2006, Fireman’s Fund has awarded the FDNY over half a million dollars. This is the fourth grant by Taylor & Taylor, bringing their total donations to over $134,000.
