FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO TO PRESIDE AT CEREMONY PROMOTING FIRE OFFICERS AND MARINE UNIT MEMBERS

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a ceremony promoting 46 FDNY members at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 9 in the auditorium at the FDNY Academy on Randall’s Island. Ten Lieutenants will be promoted to the rank of Captain, one Lieutenant will be promoted to Supervising Fire Marshal, 30 Firefighters will become Lieutenants, one Marine Wiper will become a Marine Engineer and four firefighters will be promoted to the rank of Marine Wiper, performing daily maintenance checks and preventive maintenance in the Department’s Marine Unit.

“In a department where leadership and tradition take center stage, promotions are a pivotal time for us,” Commissioner Cassano said. “All of these members have demonstrated the guidance and commitment needed to take their careers to the next level.”

The members being promoted comprise nearly 500 years of experience with the Department. They will be assigned to various units throughout the city.
