FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO TO PRESIDE AT PROMOTION
CEREMONY FOR 24 EMS OFFICERS
Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a promotion ceremony for 24 FDNY Emergency Medical Service officers at 2 p.m.on Monday, May 16 in the auditorium at FDNY Headquarters, 9 MetroTech Center, in Brooklyn.
"It's fitting to promote 24 EMS officers during EMS Week, when we recognize the amazing, life-saving work that the members of our Emergency Medical Service perform all across this city every day, comprising over 1.2 million calls last year alone," Commissioner Cassano said. "In fact, a few hours after our promotion ceremony, the Empire State Building will light up in yellow, white and blue in honor of EMS Week. That's a fitting tribute to the accomplishments of these newly-promoted officers and all the other members of EMS who work so hard for our city every day."
Captain Christine Mazzola will be promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief, four Lieutenants will be promoted to the rank of Captain, and 19 Paramedics will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. All of the newly promoted members will be assigned to various units throughout the city.
