FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO PRESIDES AT GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR 86 EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS
Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a graduation ceremony for 86 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at the FDNY Academy on Randall’s Island.
“Our Emergency Medical Service responded to more than 1.2 million calls last year, saving countless lives with quick thinking, state-of-the-art equipment and top-notch training,” Commissioner Cassano said. “I’m certain these 86 new members will continue to uphold the tradition of this department and make us proud.”
Among the diverse group of graduates, nine different languages are spoken, including Mandarin, Korean, Italian and Haitian Creole. Four also served in branches of the U.S. military, including EMT Ahmed Artis, who served with the Navy in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
