FIRE COMMISSIONER AND DUNKINí DONUTS LAUNCH VOLUNTEER CAMPAIGN FOR 2011 NEW YORK WORLD POLICE AND FIRE GAMES

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano, along with Dunkin’ Donuts, will announce the launch of the campaign for volunteers for the 2011 New York World Police and Fire Games at the quarters of Engine 39/Ladder 16, 157 East 67 St, Manhattan on Thursday February 10 at 9 a.m.

Dunkin Donuts will be sampling their new Cupid’s Choice heart-shaped donut to those who sign up to volunteer.  Volunteers will work in a number of capacities, from working as translators to acting as greeters for those coming to New York City from around the world.

 The 2011 New York World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) will be held from August 26th thru September 5th and will feature police and firefighters from around the world competing in 69 events at 50 different venues in New York City.  Already, 5,000 Firefighters and Police Officers from countries around the world have signed up to compete; and over 15,000 total athletes from 70 countries are expected to participate in the games.
