FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO ANNOUNCES THE DEATH OF FIREFIGHTER GARY VALENTINO

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano today announced the death of Firefighter Gary Valentino. Firefighter Valentino, who was assigned to Engine 43 in the Bronx but working as a chief’s aide in the 7th Division, was found at the quarters of Engine 72 in the Bronx early this morning. A veteran of the department for more than 12 years, Firefighter Valentino was 40 years old.

His death is not considered suspicious and the cause is pending an investigation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
