Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a ceremony promoting 52 members at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 4 in the auditorium at the FDNY Academy on Randall’s Island.

“You have all taken the next step up the career ladder, taking on more responsibility in the field,” Commissioner Cassano said. “After 40 years on the job, I’ve worked with a lot of people and I can say from personal experience that New York City firefighters – whatever their rank – are the most devoted and dedicated first responders anywhere. What you do is without compare, here in New York or anywhere.”

The promotees include: 10 Captains being promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief, 10 Lieutenants being promoted to the rank of Captain, one Fire Marshal bring promoted to the rank of Supervising Fire Marshal, 30 Firefighters or Fire Marshals being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and one Marine Engineer being promoted to the rank of Chief Marine Engineer.  The members being promoted will be assigned to various units throughout the city.
