FDNY BRAVEST BOXERS BATTLE NYPD BOXING TEAM AT 28th ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE BADGES

The FDNY Bravest Boxing team will take on the NYPD Fighting Finest Boxing team at The Battle of the Badges, Friday October 1, 8 p.m. at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.  The night will feature FDNY members versus NYPD members in twelve matches.

The FDNY Bravest Boxing Team is joining forces with two charities, Building Homes for Heroes and the Stephen Stiller Children's Foundation, to build a home for a true American hero, Army Specialist Brendan Marrocco.  Army Specialist Marrocco was injured while returning to base in Iraq after a night mission when his vehicle sustained a direct hit by an explosive fired projectile.  He lost all four of his limbs in the attack and is the only soldier to do so in combat in Iraq or Afghanistan.

The FDNY Boxing team competes in several amateur boxing matches each year, including the World Police and Fire Games, which will be held in New York City in 2011.  The team has earned nearly $100,000 for various charities over the years, including the Wounded Warriors Project and American Red Cross-Haiti Relief Fund.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and at the Madison Square Garden Box Office.
