FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO TO PRESIDE AT CEREMONY PROMOTING ONE DEPUTY ASSISTANT CHIEF AND 16 CAPTAINS

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over a ceremony promoting one Deputy Assistant Chief and 16 Captains at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in the auditorium at the FDNY Academy on Randall’s Island.  The Deputy Assistant Chief will become an Assistant Chief and the 16 Captains will become Battalion Chiefs. 

Deputy Assistant Chief Ronald R. Spadafora will be promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief.  As Chief of Logistics, he coordinates the use of Department resources and bureaus as well as work with other city agencies.  Chief Spadafora has over 31 years of experience and has received numerous merits within the Department.

Collectively, the officers being promoted have over 300 years of experience with the Department.

“All of these members have exhibited the leadership and commitment needed to take their careers to the next level,” Commissioner Cassano said. “We will rely on these members to provide knowledge and leadership to our members in the field.  Their extensive experience will serve to move the Department forward in its effort to keep New York City safe.” 

All of the newly promoted members will be assigned to various units throughout the City.
