The New York City Fire Department and the FDNY Foundation will host a fire safety presentation for elementary school students at Ladder 42, 655 Prospect Ave. in the Bronx, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23 in conjunction with a $29,055 donation made by CMJ Underwriters and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company for the purchase of a technology training package, fitness equipment, power tools and fire safety promotional materials.  The Fireman’s Fund has awarded over $487,297 to the New York City Fire Department since December 2006.

The grant was used to buy a treadmill, elliptical trainer and exercise bike to keep fire fighters physically fit. The technology training package includes a digital camera, television, and DVD player to create training presentations and watch training videos. The new tools include a power washer and air compressor to clean tools and fill up tires. The money will also be used for fire safety promotional materials.  The event will include a brief presentation on fire safety to students from St. Athanasius with Hot Dog the Fire Safety Dog.

“This very generous donation benefits the firefighters of this house and all New Yorkers by increasing funding for training, equipment and fire safety education,” said Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano.  “We’re proud to work once again with Fireman’s Fund and their partners, who have provided nearly half a million dollars worth of support to the FDNY in recent years.”
