FIRE COMMISSIONER SALVATORE J. CASSANO PRESIDES AT
GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR 84 NEW EMERGENCY MEDICAL
TECHNICIANS
Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside at a graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the FDNY Academy on Randall’s Island for 84 emergency medical technicians (EMTs) of the FDNY Emergency Medical Service. These new members have successfully completed rigorous training programs at the department’s EMS Academy at Fort Totten in Queens.
“These new EMTs are joining the world’s best and busiest Emergency Medical Service,” said Commissioner Cassano. “FDNY EMS is at the forefront of emergency medicine, and our new members will be out there every day responding to the over 1.2 million calls we receive a year.”
Among this diverse group of graduates, 15 languages are spoken, including Spanish, Creole, French, Berber, Gujarati, Sinhala, Haitian Creole, Albanian, Portugese, Gaelic, Greek, Hindi, Russian, Tagalog and Korean.
The new members will be assigned to various EMS stations throughout the city.
