FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO TO PRESIDE AT PROMOTION CEREMONY FOR SIX CHIEFS, INCLUDING CHIEF OF DEPARTMENT
Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano will preside over a promotions ceremony for six staff chiefs at 2 p.m. today in the auditorium at FDNY Headquarters, 9 MetroTech Center in Brooklyn.
The promotion ceremony advances Assistant Chief Edward S. Kilduff to Chief of Department, the highest uniformed position in the FDNY. Chief Kilduff, a 32-year veteran who has served as Brooklyn Borough Commander since August of 2004, becomes the 34th Chief of Department in the agency’s 145-year history. Other promotions include: Assistant Chief Thomas R. Galvin to Chief-in-charge of Training and Assistant Chief Thomas M. Jensen to Chief-in-charge of Fire Prevention.
Three Deputy Chiefs will also be promoted to the rank of Deputy Assistant Chief and two will become Borough Commanders. Deputy Chief James Leonard will advance to Brooklyn Borough Commander, Deputy Chief Michael Marrone will become acting Staten Island Borough Commander and Deputy Chief Stephen Raynis will become Chief of Safety Command.
