FIRE COMMISSIONER SCOPPETTA TO PRESIDE AT PROMOTION CEREMONY FOR 44 FDNY MEMBERS

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will preside over a promotions ceremony at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the FDNY Fire Academy on Randall’s Island for 44 members of the New York City Fire Department. Three members will be elevated to the rank of Supervising Fire Marshal, 24 to the rank of Lieutenant and 17 to the rank of Fire Marshal.

Among those being promoted is Firefighter Patrick Connolly, whose first day out of the Fire Academy was on September 11, 2001. He will be promoted to Lieutenant after eight years of dedication to the Department. In addition, Lieutenant Thomas Kane, who has been serving as a senior officer for the Department’s Family Assistance Unit, will be promoted to Supervising Fire Marshal.

The department will also promote Firefighter Anthony Sodano, who saved the lives of four people from a burning house along with the other members of Ladder 126 in Queens on April 20 of this year. He will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

All of the newly promoted members will be assigned to various units throughout the City.
