FIRE COMMISSIONER SCOPPETTA TO PRESIDE AT GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR 75 MEMBERS OF THE FDNY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will preside at a graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the FDNY Academy on Randall’s Island for 75 emergency medical technicians (EMTs) of the FDNY Emergency Medical Service. These new members have successfully completed rigorous training programs at the department’s EMS Academy at Fort Totten in Queens.

Among this diverse graduating class, eight different languages are spoken, including Spanish, Italian, Creole, French, Hindi, and Sinhala. One graduating member, William Hunt, is an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

The new members will be assigned to various EMS stations throughout the city.
