HUB International Northeast and the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company have partnered to award a $20,000 grant to the FDNY tomorrow at 11am at Engine Company 280/Ladder 132 in Brooklyn to purchase equipment to enhance the training technology and physical fitness of its members.

The grant funds will be used to purchase a digital camera, laptop computer, projector and other technology for Engine Company 280/Ladder 132 in Prospect Heights. This purchase will allow firefighters to make customized presentations that deal specifically with the buildings, hazards and environments in their response areas.  This purchase will also allow the firefighters in this house to access training from the FDNY Bureau of Training, FEMA, the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Fire Administration.  In addition, this generous grant will be used to purchase new exercise equipment for the firehouse, including an elliptical machine and treadmill.

“The department is committed to ensuring its members have the best training possible,” said Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta.  “This grant will help our firefighters to continue to train both their minds and bodies to meet that commitment.”

The Fireman’s Fund has awarded over $300,000 to the New York City Fire Department since December 2006. This is the third grant HUB International Northeast has awarded the FDNY.
