FIRE COMMISSIONER SCOPPETTA TO PRESIDE AT FIRST EVER GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR STUDENTS FROM FDNY HIGH SCHOOL
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta, Chief of Department Salvatore Cassano, Principal James Anderson and other FDNY officials tomorrow will preside over the first ever graduation ceremony for students from the FDNY High School for Fire and Life Safety in Brooklyn, NY.
The 35 students are graduating from a rigorous academic program with a special emphasis on the academic, physical and moral rigors of emergency response. The school exposes students to potential careers in the Fire Department as firefighters, paramedics and EMTs.
Twenty-one of the students are continuing on to college, with one receiving a $35,000 per year scholarship to Wabash College in Indiana.
