FDNY TO CELEBRATE THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF ENGINE COMPANY 303 AND LADDER COMPANY 126
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will join the officers and members of Engine Company 303/Ladder Company 126 in South Jamaica, Queens, as they celebrate 100 years of dedicated service to the community.
During the ceremony, plaques will be dedicated to honor two members of the firehouse who have died in the line of duty, including Lt. Albert E. Donovan, who died while fighting a three-alarm fire in Ozone Park on Jan. 24, 1924, and Firefighter Robert Pettit, who died in a World War II military attack on Dec. 15, 1944, soon after being released from a Philippine POW Camp.
Two current firefighters from Engine 303 are members of the U.S. Marine Corps, one recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq and the other is currently serving there.
