FIRE COMMISSIONER SCOPPETTA TO PRESIDE AT PROMOTION
CEREMONY FOR 33 MEMBERS OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will preside at a promotion ceremony tomorrow for 33 members of the FDNY including Robert Byrnes, who will be elevated to the rank of Chief Fire Marshal. Assistant Chief Byrnes is the 11th person to hold the rank in the Department’s 144-year history and is replacing Chief Fire Marshal Louis Garcia who has retired. John Lynn will be elevated to the rank of Assistant Chief Fire Marshal.
In addition, one member will be elevated to the rank of Supervising Fire Marshal Level II, eight to the rank of Captain, one to Supervising Fire Marshal and 21 members will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. All of the newly promoted members will be assigned to various units throughout the City.
