FIRE COMMISSIONER SCOPPETTA TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS ON DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AT THE NEW SCHOOL CONFERENCE
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will deliver the keynote address at The New School as part of a two-day conference on disasters, hosted by Social Research, the flagship journal of The New School for Social Research.
Commissioner Scoppetta will discuss how disaster preparedness has become a top priority for state and local governments across the country since the attacks on September 11, 2001. Commissioner Scoppetta also will discuss how the New York City Fire Department rebuilt its ranks after the attacks, enhanced its ability to adapt and respond to local emergencies and provided emergency assistance to other parts of the country -- most recently in California. After his address, he will participate in a Q&A session with Bob Kerrey, president of The New School and member of the 9/11 Commission.
Media availability will begin at 7:15 p.m. For more information on the conference, visit www.newschool.edu/disasters.
