FIRE COMMISSIONER SCOPPETTA AND STATEN ISLAND BOROUGH
PRESIDENT JAMES P. MOLINARO TO ANNOUNCE DONATION OF
NEW FDNY EMS MAJOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE VEHICLE
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will join Staten Island Borough President James P. Molinaro tomorrow to announce the donation of a new Major Emergency Response Vehicle (MERV) for the FDNY’s Emergency Medical Service on Staten Island. Borough President Molinaro allocated the funds necessary to purchase the vehicle.
The state-of-the-art vehicle, which is designed to deliver advanced medical care during a large-scale emergency or disaster, will allow EMS members, including response physicians, to care for multiple patients and treat many life-threatening ailments in a method similar to what patients would receive in a hospital emergency room.
The MERV will be assigned to EMS Division 5 and deployed to EMS Station 22 at Sea View Hospital Rehabilitation Center & Home.
