FIRE COMMISSIONER SCOPPETTA TO PRESIDE AT GRADUATION CEREMONY
FOR 114 MEMBERS OF THE FDNY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will preside at a graduation ceremony tomorrow for 96 emergency medical technicians (EMT) and 18 paramedics of the FDNY Emergency Medical Service. Of the graduates, 20 were enrolled in the Department’s Trainee program which trains civilians to become FDNY emergency medical technicians. Seven of the graduates are FDNY EMTs who have been elevated to the rank of paramedic. All of the members have completed rigorous training programs at the EMS Academy and will be assigned to various EMS stations throughout the City.
Among the graduates, there are four military veterans, including EMT Favio Reyes and EMT Ernest Russo Jr. who have both served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and more than 10 languages are spoken, including Spanish, French, Creole, Polish, Russian, Italian, Cantonese, Ukrainian and Swedish.
In addition, EMS member Stephen Lincke will be officially promoted from Captain to Deputy Chief at the ceremony.
