FDNY TO CELEBRATE THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY
OF ENGINE COMPANY 299
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will join the officers and members of Engine Company 299 in Fresh Meadows, Queens, as they celebrate 100 years of dedicated service to the community.
A plaque will be dedicated at the quarters of Engine Company 299/Ladder Company 152 to honor three members who died in the line of duty – Firefighter John J. Whelan of Ladder Company 152 who died on May 31, 1930, Firefighter John W. Eiserman of Engine Company 299 who died on Dec. 14, 1945, and Firefighter Paul C. Wrigley of Ladder Company 152 who died on May 16, 1958.
