FIRE COMMISSIONER SCOPPETTA PRESIDES AT PROMOTIONAL CEREMONY FOR 136 MEMBERS OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will preside at a promotional ceremony today for 136 members of the New York City Fire Department. Three members will be elevated to the rank of Deputy Chief, 21 to the rank of Battalion Chief, 50 to the rank of Captain and 61 to the rank of Lieutenant.

Among the promotees is William B. Eimicke, who has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner for Strategic Planning and Policy. Deputy Commissioner Eimicke is the founding director of the Picker Center for Executive Education at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.

Since 2002, he has been working with the FDNY as faculty director of Columbia University’s Fire Officers Management Institute, which was established after 9/11 to provide fire and Emergency Medical Service staff chiefs with a customized curriculum of leadership and management training.

The newly promoted members will be assigned to various units throughout the City.
