FDNY ACCEPTS WATERFORD CRYSTAL SCULPTURE HONORING FDNY MEMBERS LOST ON 9/11

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will accept on behalf of the FDNY a Waterford Crystal sculpture designed to honor Father Mychal Judge and 342 other FDNY members who made the Supreme Sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

Master Waterford Engraver and Glasscutter Sean Egan began creating the piece in his personal time. After a chance meeting with New York City Firefighter Michael O’Rourke, as he toured the Waterford Crystal factory in Ireland, the project gained the attention of officials from both the FDNY and Waterford.

The sculpture will serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifice all those killed in the World Trade Center attacks. It will be housed at Engine 1 and Ladder 24, the firehouse Father Judge called his own and from which he responded to the World Trade Center on September 11.
