FDNY’s Hot Dog “Springs Ahead” in Times Square
The purpose of this program is to encourage residents to change their batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are in working order. It is one of the simplest ways to protect you and your family from the dangers of a fire.
Join Hot Dog, the FDNY’s mascot, as he simulates turning the Hilton Times Square clock forward.
Members of the FDNY Fire Safety Education Unit also will be distributing 1,000 9-volt batteries. Assistant Chief Thomas J. Haring, Staten Island Borough Commander, will be on hand to discuss how smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms saves lives.
