FDNY ENGINE COMPANY 262 AND SANTA CLAUS
TO
PAY A VISIT TO QUEENS CATHOLIC COMMUNITY CENTER
TO PASS OUT GIFTS TO CHILDREN
Members of FDNY Engine Company 262 will be at the Catholic Community Center in Queens tomorrow to bring some much-needed Christmas cheer to children who are less fortunate. The company will act as “Santa’s Sleigh” by chauffeuring St. Nick to the Community Center where firefighters will accompany him inside the building where they will visit the children and distribute gifts.
Members of Engine Company 262 have been collecting toys for the children at an annual hockey event in Juniper Valley Park in conjunction with the Middle Village Roller Hockey Association for the last seven years. The toy drive began in 1998 in honor of Firefighter James Bohan who made the supreme sacrifice while battling the Vandalia Avenue fire. Firefighter Bohan devoted much of his time around the holidays to collecting gifts for children, and as a way to honor his memory, firefighters from his company continue this toy drive each year.
