FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA TO PRESIDE OVER GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR 175 PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHTERS

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will preside over a graduation ceremony tomorrow for 175 Probationary Firefighters. The “Probies” have successfully completed the rigorous 13-week training program at the Training Academy on Randall’s Island and now will be assigned to fire companies throughout the five boroughs.

The graduating class also includes 12 firefighters who previously served in the military. Four of them are combat veterans who served in Iraq. The class has donated money to the families of Firefighter Michael C. Reilly and Lt. Howard J. Carpluk Jr, who made the Supreme Sacrifice while fighting a three-alarm fire in the Bronx on August 27, 2006.
