139 Probationary Firefighters.  The “Probies” have successfully completed the rigorous 12-week training program and will now be assigned to fire companies throughout the five boroughs.  Four of tomorrow’s graduates are related to members who made the Supreme Sacrifice:  three of them on September 11th and one on January 23, 2005.

The graduating class also includes 19 firefighters who previously served in the military.  Eight of them are combat veterans.  One of them, Probationary Firefighter Kevin Lynch, was granted special leave to finish the Academy and will return to military service on May 21, 2006
