FIREFIGHTER RESIGNS ON EVE OF ADMINISTRATIVE TRIAL
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta today announced the resignation of Firefighter Tony J. Deluca of Ladder Company 33 in the Bronx. Firefighter Deluca, who was facing departmental charges stemming from sexual activity while on duty at his firehouse on August 20, 2004, was scheduled to appear at an administrative trial next week at the city’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH). By resigning, Deluca, who had nine years in the Fire Department, forfeits all pension, health and other benefits.
Two other firefighters were involved in the August 20, 2004, incident:
Firefighter Christian Waugh, of Ladder Company 33, was terminated In December of 2004 after he failed to cooperate with a DOI investigation into his role in the incident.
Firefighter Anthony Loscuito, of Engine 75, is scheduled for an OATH trial next month.
