Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will accept the keys to a brand new $36,000 Freight Liner Sprinter Fire Safety Education Van from Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, who raised the funds to purchase the new van. It will be stocked with important fire safety and prevention supplies, including multi-lingual educational pamphlets, coloring books and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Members of the Fire Department’s Fire Safety Education Unit will staff the new van bringing it to schools, community events, street fairs and other public events to help educate New Yorkers about the importance of fire safety.
