FIVE NEW ORLEANS FIREHOUSES RE-OPEN FOR BUSINESS
Tomorrow, members of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) deployed to assist the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will stand side-by-side with their NOFD counterparts as they re-open five New Orleans firehouses. The firehouses sustained tremendous damage from Hurricane Katrina and FDNY members along with firefighters from the Illinois Task Force and the Montgomery County (Md.) Fire Rescue were critical in repairing these facilities.
In total nine firehouses throughout New Orleans are now in operation with seven firehouses operating 24-hours a day.
