FDNY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR SEPTEMBER 11th

 

For planning purposes:

7:00 AM
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta, Chief of Department Peter Hayden and Chief of Operations Salvatore Cassano will lay a wreath at the Firefighters Memorial Monument at Riverside Drive and 100 th Street in Manhattan before heading the WTC site.

8:46 AM
All Fire Department apparatus (where applicable) will be pulled onto the street in front of quarters where a moment of silence will be observed and a prayer will be read by the company officer. (Moments of silence will also take place at 9:03 , 9:59 and 10:29 a.m. in all FDNY facilities.)

9:30 AM
FDNY Battalion 18 will host hundreds of firefighters at a memorial service at the Firefighters Memorial Monument located on Riverside Drive and 100 th street in Manhattan . All the names of 343 FDNY members that were killed on 9/11 will be read. This ceremony will be followed by a Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

1:00 PM
Fire Commissioner Scoppetta, First Deputy Fire Commissioner Frank Cruthers, Chief of Department Peter Hayden, Chief of Operations Salvatore Cassano and other senior FDNY officials will attend a memorial service at FDNY Headquarters located at 9 Metrotech Center in Downtown Brooklyn. They will be joined by family members of those individuals from FDNY Headquarters who were killed in the line-of-duty on 9/11.
