FDNY TO RECEIVE $5 MILLION GRANT FROM AMERICAN RED CROSS LIBERTY DISASTER RELIEF SEPTEMBER 11TH RECOVERY FUND
Grant will help fund continued medical treatment of FDNY members
who responded to the World Trade Center
FDNY Chief of Department Peter Hayden on Monday will accept on behalf of the Fire Department and the FDNY Fire Safety Education Fund a $5 million grant from the American Red Cross to fund continued medical treatment for active and retired members of the Fire Department who responded to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The grant is part of $16 million in recovery grants to seven separate organizations. The grants will provide medical and social support services over the next two years to an estimated 15,000 people who are experiencing health problems associated with the World Trade Center collapse.
