FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA PRESIDES OVER
FDNY COMBATTING TERRORISM COURSE GRADUATION
Thirty-one Senior Fire and EMS Officers Set to Graduate from the West Point-inspired 14-week program
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta, Monday, will officiate at the graduation ceremony for the West Point inspired Combating Terrorism Course, administered at the Fire Department. Thirty-one Fire and EMS officers will graduate after participating in the 14-week, graduate level course on Terrorism and Counterterrorism. This is the third class to graduate from the program. The course was adapted for the FDNY from curriculum currently administered at West Point through its Combating Terrorism Center.
The course was team-taught by USMA and Fire Department instructors. Group projects and case studies included: transportation system attack scenario; studies of regional homeland security resources; radiological attack in a transportation facility; biological incident response plan; and a 9/11 interagency review.
