FIRE DEPARTMENT DISTRIBUTES MORE THAN 1,200 MTA METROCARDS TO ALL FIELD UNITS

MetroCards will ensure quick access and seamless response to subway emergencies

The Fire Department today announced that it has distributed more than 1,200 metro cards to all fire and EMS units in the City. The MetroCards, given to the Department by the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), will ensure that firefighters and EMS workers have quick and easy access to the subway system in the event of an emergency. All engine and ladder companies, special fire units and all ambulances throughout the City, including those in the voluntary system, will be equipped with a MetroCard.
