TO OFFICIATE AT PROMOTIONAL CEREMONY FOR
31 FIRE DEPARTMENT MEMBERS
Promotional Class includes posthumous promotion of Firefighter John Bellew to Lieutenant
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will preside over a promotional ceremony for 31 members of the New York City Fire Department. The ceremony will include the promotion of two Deputy Chiefs, two Battalion Chiefs, 11 Captains and 16 Lieutenants. Firefighter John Bellew of Ladder 27 – who made the Supreme Sacrifice on January 23, 2005 – will also be posthumously promoted to Lieutenant. His wife, Eileen, and other members of the Bellew family will be on-hand to officially accept the promotion.
The newly promoted officers will be assigned to various units citywide. The ceremony will be held at the Fire Department’s Training Academy on Randall’s Island.
