EMT’S SUCCESSFULLY STOP ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
IN QUEENS
Stop woman from jumping in water at Long
Island City Pier
FDNY EMT’S successfully stopped the attempted suicide
of a woman today at 48 Avenue and Central Boulevard in Queens.
The woman, whose name was not released, ran through a group
of FDNY EMS personnel as they were shooting a Public Service
Announcement for EMS Week 2005. After being alerted by an
onlooker that the woman was going to kill herself, EMT’s
Peter Glennon and Wendell O’Brien chased after her and
successfully stopped her from jumping into the East River.
She was brought back onto land and treated at the scene before
being transported to Elmhurst Hospital. The EMT’s will
be available at FDNY Headquarters at 4 PM.
***FDNY Audio Visual Unit was on scene for the PSA Shoot
and raw footage of the rescue will be available at press conference.
