FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA TO
ATTEND FUNERAL MASS FOR FIREFIGHTER JOHN G. BELLEW
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will join family, friends and Fire Department members in paying their final respects to Firefighter John G. Bellew of Ladder Company 27 in the Bronx . Firefighter Bellew and five other firefighters from Ladder 27 and Rescue 3 became trapped in a fire last Sunday in the Bronx and subsequently were forced to jump from the fourth floor window to the ground below. As a result, they all suffered critical, life-threatening injuries. Firefighter Bellew was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where, a short time later, he succumbed to his injuries.
