FIRE COMMISSIONER SCOPPETTA ANNOUNCES CREATION OF TWO INVESTIGATION TEAMS TO EXAMINE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE FATAL FIRES IN THE BRONX AND BROOKLYN
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta today announced the creation of two, five-member teams to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal fires that occurred on Sunday, January 23, 2005 in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
The teams will be comprised of Chief Officers under the direction of Assistant Chief Allen Hay, head of the Fire Department’s Safety and Inspections Command. Each Chief Officer assigned to these teams has had previous training in safety investigations. They will be responsible for conducting interviews, recreating timelines, examining floor plans, reviewing audio recordings and performing any other tasks associated with the investigation. The Chiefs will be supported by an administrative staff.
