LADDER COMPANY 42 RESCUES
MAN
FROM BRONX APARTMENT FIRE
Firefighters from Ladder Company 42 today successfully rescued
a man from the window of his third floor apartment after he
became trapped in his bedroom when a fire erupted in his residence.
The fire occurred this morning in a corner apartment building
at 758 Kelly Street at 11:24 AM. While responding, Ladder
42 received reports of a male in a third floor window. The
Ladder chauffer, Firefighter John Kinta, dropped off the inside
search team led by Lt. Brian Foy. Lt. Foy then instructed
Kinta to reposition the truck on Longwood Avenue. Once in
position, firefighters saw a male at a window with heavy smoke
billowing over his head on the third floor. Firefighter Kinta
raised the aerial ladder to the third floor window and Firefighter
Gregory Buday climbed up to the window and rescued the man,
bringing him down the ladder where he was met by EMS and transported
to Lincoln Hospital. Two firefighters also suffered minor
injuries and were taken to Jacobi Medical Center. The “All-Hands”
fire incurred the response of 12 Companies and 60 firefighters.
