FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA TO PRESIDE OVER GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR 163 PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHTERS
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will preside over a graduation ceremony at Brooklyn College for 163 Probationary Firefighters. The class has completed the rigorous 12-week training program at the FDNY Fire Academy on Randall’s Island and will now be assigned to firehouses citywide as they continue onto the next step of their careers as firefighters. Among those graduating are one female firefighter, 36 members that have previously served in the armed forces and 5 firefighters whose relatives were among the 343 FDNY members that were killed on September 11 th.
