FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA CELEBRATES THE RETURN TO QUARTERS OF LADDER COMPANY 25 AFTER YEAR-LONG RENOVATION

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will celebrate the “Return to Quarters” of Ladder Company 25 after a year-long renovation of the firehouse. The firehouse, originally constructed in 1901, underwent a one-year, $6.7 million renovation that included installation of a new apparatus floor and replacement of the HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. Repairs were also made to the firehouse’s exterior façade.

The City’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) created the master renovation plans in cooperation with David Prendergast Architects and also oversaw the construction at the firehouse. The renovation of the interior spaces is essential to accommodate the size and weight of today’s fire apparatus and firefighting equipment. While periodic repairs were made to the firehouse, due to age and everyday wear and tear, extensive renovations were required.
