FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA AND CHIEF

FIRE PREVENTION EXPO AT BROOKLYN’S METROTECH CENTER
Brooklyn’s Metrotech Center will play host to a FDNY Fire Prevention Expo on October 7, 2004. The annual event, which is held to help promote FIRE PREVENTION WEEK and educate New Yorkers on the importance of fire safety, will include numerous exhibits and educational activities for people of all ages.
Highlights will include “Hot Dog the Fire Safety Dog,” the Fire Department’s life size mascot who helps firefighters reinforce the importance of fire safety. The FDNY Hazardous Materials team will “suit-up” and demonstrate the proper handling of a mock hazardous Materials incident involving a chemical spill. Fire Safety experts will be on hand to help you design and review home fire escape plans. In addition information about New York’s new Carbon Monoxide Detector law will be available along with many other exhibits.
